Privacy Policy

Last updated July 22, 2026. Most privacy policies are written to be survived rather than read. We would rather you actually understood ours, so this explains in ordinary words how My Watch Guru looks after your personal information.

What we collect, and when

Almost all of it comes from you, at the moment you give it. Ask us a question or place an order and we hold your name, email address, phone number and the addresses we are shipping and billing to. Ask us to value, buy or take in your watch and we hold the details of that watch alongside our correspondence with you. Simply visiting the site produces a small amount of technical information — IP address, browser type, pages viewed — that we use to keep everything running and secure. One thing we deliberately do not hold is your full card number; card payments are handled by Stripe and wires by our bank, and your card details stay with them under their own privacy and security terms.

The reasons we use it

Who we share it with, and who we do not

To be completely clear: we do not sell your personal information to anybody, for any price. We share it only with the providers who make the business function — the payment processor, the insured shipping carrier, our email and fraud-prevention tools, our IT support — and each of those receives only what is needed for the specific task in front of them. Beyond that, we disclose only where the law obliges us to. Anything you submit through an order or an enquiry form is stored in our order and inventory systems so that a specialist can pick it up and respond to you.

Cookies, in plain terms

A cookie is a small file the site leaves in your browser. We use the necessary ones to make the site work and remember your preferences, and a modest amount of analytics to learn which pages people find useful. You are free to restrict all of it in your browser settings. Californian visitors have further options set out on our Your Privacy Choices page.

Your rights under California law (CCPA / CPRA)

If California is home, the law gives you several rights and we will honour every one of them: the right to know what we hold and what we do with it, to see it, to have mistakes corrected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing — which, as noted above, is not something we do in the first place. Using any of these rights will never lead to worse treatment from us. Write to [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Rights Request.” We check that the request genuinely comes from you, reply within the 45 days California allows, and are happy to deal with an authorized agent acting for you.

How long we keep it, and how we guard it

Information stays with us for as long as the purpose we collected it for is live, and for as long afterwards as tax and legal rules demand — then it is deleted or anonymized. We protect it with reasonable technical and organizational measures, and we would rather be honest than reassuring: no method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure.

Young visitors

Both the site and what we sell are meant for adults. We do not knowingly gather information from anyone under 18, and anything of that kind is deleted once we become aware of it.
